Types & The Effects Of Weapons

Guns.

Anyone can fire a gun. If you are shot by a gun then you are assumed to have been hit in the torso in a non-vital area such as the shoulder (unless someone tells you they are targeting a specific area). You have a bad wound but nothing vital was specifically targeted. Characters with the ‘Firearms training’ skill can specifically target locations and should shout out what they are targeting (ie “Head” “Left Arm” “Leg”). Anyone can target a specific location if within 2 paces of his or her target.

A gun does 2 hit-points worth of damage, unless it is a headshot. A headshot is a killing blow.

If you shoot at someone and target your shot please try to make your intentions clear while remaining in character (for example “Ha! I’ll put a bullet between your eyes and blow your brains out!” rather than “Head”).

All guns use ammunition. Tags with either “Bullet” or “Shell” written on them represent these. Once you have taken a shot you should tear a tag up and leave it on the ground (unless you pick up the empty casing). “Bullets” only work in handguns, “Shells” in shotguns or rifles. If you do not have ammunition of the right type for the gun you are using, you cannot fire the gun. Please do not use guns to pistol-whip people with, try to keep guns away from the bodies of others.

Crossbows.

In the unlikely event your character has a crossbow then you may use it. Anyone can use a crossbow. Crossbows do 1 hit-point worth of damage, regardless of the location you are hit in. You may retrieve crossbow bolts from corpses or if they miss but not if the character runs off after being hit (it is stuck in him still). Please try not to aim for the head or groin as they hurt out-of-character and you will still only do 1 hit-point worth of damage.

Melee Weapons.

All non-projectile weapons do 1 hit-point worth of damage regardless of where they strike. Please try not to aim for the head or groin as they hurt out-of-character and you will still only do 1 hit-point worth of damage. See the rules on ‘Armed Combat’ on how to fight. Only use larp-safe weapons as other things hurt a lot. We know you want to hit people with tire irons, heck I know I do, but please don’t.
